Did You Vote?

"It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped each time a human being stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, they send forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples, build a current that can sweep down the mightiest wall of oppression and resistance."
Senator Robert F. Kennedy, South Africa, 1966

Barringer Publishing Releases Murder by the Books

Barringer Publishing announces the launch of Murder by the Books, a financial crime thriller based in forensic accounting by author Ron Atkinson.

“What the use of fingerprints was to the 19th century and DNA analysis was to the 20th, forensic accounting will be to the 21st century,” Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom stated when speaking as the Chancellor of the Exchequer, October, 10, 2006.

One subset of fraud is called “white collar” crime, which among others includesencompassing embezzlement, kickbacks, bribery, expense account abuse, conflicts of interest and occupational fraud, the specialty of Atkinson’s character Rainey McDermott. The novel, Murder by the Books, reveals that there is enough falsified financial documents, money laundering and fraudulent inventory, to keep the frauddetection professionals like Rainey busy for decades to come. Atkinson’s hero, whose original sin, perfectly defensible, was a desire for justice to at long last be served, is caught up in something dark and dangerous where doing the right thing could save his soul, but at the cost of almost certain death and an unspeakably gruesome burial.

Author Ron Atkinson spent several years researching the demanding industry of financial fraud investigation and prevention. That research introduced him to an extraordinary array of specialists in their fields, including representatives of several distinct federal law enforcement agencies and top-tier independent specialists in the field of forensic accounting, among others. With that kind of expertise behind him, and a compellingly complex character as his deeply flawed hero, Atkinson suggests that readers have not heard the last of Rainey McDermott and the deceptively serene community of Palms Away, “where eventually, all secrets are revealed.” Ron Atkinson lives and writes in Bonita Springs with his wife, Lynn.

Barringer Publishing is a full service cooperative publishing house owned and operated by Naples resident, Jeff Schlesinger. Murder by the Books ($15.95) may be ordered through the publisher’s web site http://www.barringerpublishing.com/ or http://www.murderbythebooks.com/.
